BRIEF: Benovia commemorative wine to support veterans' trip to D-Day events

The Press Democrat - 8/13/2018

Aug. 13--A commemorative wine will accompanies west Sonoma County vintner Joe Anderson's mission to take part in a grand, aerial salute to the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

Benovia Winery, founded and operated by Anderson and his wife, Mary Dewane, has bottled 56 cases of Liberation, a 2016 pinot noir that winemaker Mike Sullivan crafted from grapes grown at the couple's Tilton Hill estate vineyard near Freestone.

The label bears artwork from pilot/artist Craig Kodera depicting a World War II aerial combat scene with paratroopers jumping from C-53 Skytroopers, like the one Anderson owns.

Anderson is selling the wine for $70. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the charitable fund that'll help transport military veterans, students and the vintage aircraft to next June's commemorative events in Normandy.

The wine is available at Benovia Winery and on its website.
